The CP1500BK uses Canon's dye-sublimation print technology to apply cyan, magenta, and yellow dye in successive passes before sealing each print with a protective overcoat. This produces smooth colour gradients, rich tones, and a finished surface that resists water, fingerprints, and fading from the moment the print exits the printer — there is no drying time. The 3.5-inch colour LCD screen allows previewing images and adjusting settings without a device. The Canon SELPHY Photo Layout app (iOS and Android) adds filters, stickers, frames, and creative borders before printing. The CP1500BK also supports L-size (89 x 119mm), card-size (54 x 86mm), and square label (54 x 54mm) paper in addition to the standard postcard format.
